Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Blowout & Beauty Salon?
Our salon focuses solely on all things hair and beauty BUT no haircuts or color. We style hair – blowouts, updos, braids and waves to a head full of curls. Our beauty menu includes makeup applications, expert eyebrow shaping, lash lifts, brow tints and more.
What is a blowout?
A blowout starts with a great shampoo, followed by our unique, expert blowout technique that is impossible to achieve on your own. Our blowouts leave hair shiny, bouncy, smooth and, depending on the hair (& Mother Nature), can last 3-4 days… maybe ever longer with a touch of dry shampoo.
How long does a blowout take?
All blowout appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes. If you have extra long or extremely thick hair, it may require more time, which may be an additional charge.
What if I have extensions?
Our licensed stylists are trained to give a great blowout with or without extensions. Because extensions require a little extra TLC, an additional fee does apply. If you have hair extensions and would like to book a blowout, make sure to book a “blowout with hair extensions” to ensure the stylist has enough time to accommodate the extensions.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, although we do recommend making an appointment since we cannot guarantee availability for walk-ins.
Can you accommodate large groups and wedding parties?
We sure can and we do them often. Please call for details.
Do you provide off-site services?
Yes, stay put and we’ll come to you! Give us a call for details.
Do you offer blowout packages?
Yes, however, unlike gift cards or gift certificates, prepaid packages are for blowout services only. Gift cards and prepaid packages are not the same thing. You cannot give a prepaid package to another as a gift. When you buy a package, you are only entitled to use that package to book a blowout for yourself in our salon at a specific time. You cannot redeem your package for cash and you cannot transfer it to another client/customer. Packages do expire. The expiration dates are listed below and on signage in the salon. If, however, you get jammed up and cannot book a blowout in time, just give us a call or stop by the salon and we can help you. In addition to prepaid packages, you can also buy a gift certificate. Our gift certificates are called “gift cards.” Gift cards never expire and the person that you are giving them to can use his or her gift card(s) to pay for any service in our salon. If a package is purchased using a gift card, it will expire, just like any other package you buy. Prepaid packages are as follows:
– Blow & Go x 3 (expires 3 mos from purchase date) – $114
– Blow & Go x 6 (expires 6 mos from purchase date) – $200
– Blow & Go x 12 (expires 12 mos from purchase date) – $360
Can I buy gift certificates/cards?
Yes! We sell them in the salon. Please note that gift cards and prepaid packages are not the same thing. Our gift certificates are called “gift cards.” Gift cards never expire and the person that you are giving it to can use his or her gift card(s) to pay for any service in our salon. A prepaid package can be purchased using a gift card. If a prepaid package is purchased using a gift card, it will expire, just like any other prepaid package.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash and credit cards. Gratuity in cash is much appreciated!
If I’m getting a dry style such as curls, an updo or half up/half down, does it come with a shampoo? Do I wash at home?
Dry styles do NOT include a shampoo and blowout. We recommend you come with clean, dry hair, commonly referred to as “next day hair.” If you absolutely need a shampoo and blowout, in addition to a braid, curls or updo, we can do it, you’ll just need to book accordingly (i.e. blowout with curling iron, blowout & updo, etc)
What is a Lash Lift?
The Lash Lift we offer is a revolutionary eyelash treatment designed to lift your natural lash at the root, creating the effect of longer, lifted lashes. With immediate results lasting between 6 and 8 weeks, it is the perfect treatment for people with a low maintenance beauty regimen, busy lifestyle, allergies and hay fever, or just those who want to make the most of their natural eyelashes! Click here for more details.
How does the Lash Lift work?
The structure of a single hair is made up of three parts: the hair cuticle, the cortex and the medulla. We use a lifting balm which breaks down the disulphate bonds in each hair, allowing them to move into a new shape and then we apply a volumizing serum which reforms the disulphate bonds into their new shape, which is long and lifted with maximum volume! This new shape of the eyelashes takes up to 48 hours for the disulphate bonds to lock into place and cure, which is why it is important to follow the aftercare for 48 hours post-treatment. Once the lashes get hot or wet, they will fall back into their alpha-keratin (natural) state and the lift will drop.
What is the Impact of a Lash Lift on Lash Care/Health?
The lashes on your eyes are just as important as the hair on your head. For example, you wouldn’t spend a large amount of money on a cut, color and style in a salon, and then not invest in quality products to maintain healthy hair. Therefore, it’s important to condition your lashes after treatment with a conditioning serum, which we sell in our salon.
It’s been a couple of weeks since my Lash Lift and my lashes look criss-crossed over each other, why is this?
Your lash life cycle lasts around 22 weeks, and includes the Anogen phase, where the hair is still connected to a blood supply, the Catagen phase, where the hair disconnects from the blood supply and starts transitioning to the next stage, and finally the Telogen phase, where the hair is at its full length and ready to drop out naturally. This can take 14 weeks. As each hair follicle is at a different stage in the lash life cycle and growing at a different rate, some new eyelashes, which may not have been exposed to the Lash Lift process will not have been cured into shape like the others, causing them to appear to be crossing over others.
My lashes seem like they have dropped but I followed the correct aftercare…
It is important to make sure you do not get your lashes wet at all in the first 24 hours’ post-treatment, and no steam for 48 hours. Alongside the obvious steam rooms and saunas, things like steam coming out from a hot kettle, opening a hot oven, hair dryers and cooking, in general, can cause the lashes to drop.
How long does the Lash Lift last?
Everyone is different! A lash lift can last 6-8 weeks but your lash life cycle plays a big part in this. Factors that can speed this cycle up are a quick metabolism, using lash serums, pregnancy, puberty, menopause, medication and a healthy lifestyle.
How long do I have to wait between treatments?
To ensure your eyelashes remain in optimal health, we recommend 12 weeks so your lashes can go back to their “natural, normal state” prior to getting another Lash Lift.
Can I swim and/or get my lashes wet after a Lash Lift?
We live in Florida!! You can swim like a fish BUT wait 48 hours post treatment before getting your lashes wet.
Can I wear mascara?
Sure…but you won’t need to! Wait 48 hours after your lift to manipulate your lashes with any products.
My lashes don’t seem to have lifted to the same degree each side.
Not all lashes are created equal. Your eye shape can give the illusion of a different level of lift and/or you may have come in contact with water, steam, etc. Following the aftercare advice is critical in ensuring the desired outcome with your Lash Lift.
